Bibiani Gold Stars Reclaim Top Spot as Medeama’s Lead Vanishes

The race for the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League (GPL) title has taken a dramatic turn in Week 26. Bibiani Gold Stars have successfully completed their hunt for the summit, leaping back to the top of the table after a clinical 1-0 victory over Vision FC at Dun’s Park.

With only eight matches remaining, the "Miner’s" ascent was made possible by a shocking stumble from former leaders Medeama SC, whose once-insurmountable eight-point lead has completely evaporated in the heat of the second round.

1. The View from the Summit: Gold Stars & Medeama

At Dun’s Park, the atmosphere was electric as Michael Nkoah struck early in the second half to secure all three points for Bibiani. The win moves them to 48 points, two clear of their rivals.

Meanwhile, at the Tuba AstroTurf, Medeama SC’s title defense hit a massive roadblock. Goals from Adams Aminu and Abdul Razak Salifu for Dreams FC condemned the "Mauve and Yellow" to a 2-1 defeat, despite a late consolation from Kelvin Nkrumah.

The Top Two Battle: | Team | Points | Form (Last 5) | Status | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Bibiani Gold Stars | 48 | W-W-D-W-W | 1st Place | | Medeama SC | 46 | L-L-D-L-W | 2nd Place |

2. The Super Clash Rivals: Kotoko and Hearts Move Up

In Kumasi, Asante Kotoko sent a clear message that they are not out of the title conversation yet. A dominant 3-0 win over Nations FC saw Albert Amoah continue his fine scoring form, followed by late penalties from Samba O’Neil and Morifing Donzo. The "Porcupine Warriors" now sit just six points off the top.

Across the region in Kpando, Accra Hearts of Oak played out a gritty goalless draw against Heart of Lions. While the "Phobians" missed a chance to leapfrog Kotoko, they remain level on 42 points, maintaining their grip on the top four.

3. The Survival Reset: Relegation Dogfight Intensifies

The bottom half of the table saw a massive reshuffle as teams fought to escape the "drop zone."

  • Basake Holy Stars: Maintained their fortress at the AAK II Sports Arena, securing a 9th straight home win (1-0 vs Young Apostles). They move to 8th place (36 points).

  • Swedru All Blacks: The "Black Magicians" are officially out of the bottom three after a 1-0 win over Hohoe United, courtesy of Rudolf Mensah.

  • The Danger Zone: Young Apostles and Hohoe United have both slipped into the relegation places, while Techiman Eleven Wonders remain rooted to the bottom despite a spirited 2-2 comeback draw against FC Samartex.

4. Full Results: Week 26 Scorecard
