President John Dramani Mahama arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on February 2 to participate in the 2026 World Governments Summit. The President was invited by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. The Summit, scheduled between February 2 and 4, is a premier global forum that convenes world leaders to chart the future of governance. President Mahama was met on arrival by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, the Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates. The UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi also provided a special aircraft for the transportation of President Mahama from Accra to Dubai for the Summit. After the Summit, President Mahama and his delegation will be transported by the same aircraft from Dubai to Lusaka to commence a State Visit from February 4 to 6, at the invitation of his counterpart, President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia. The back-to-back engagements in Dubai and Zambia signal an active diplomatic schedule for Ghana's president in the first weeks of February 2026.
